Bible Study in Gratitude: Luke 17: 11-19; 1 Thessalonians
5:18
We see an almost inconceivable response
to an incredible act, a fantastic, unattainable, life-changing healing met with
resentment or apathy or busyness-or the worst of all, ingratitude. All these
people were outcasts; perhaps they approached Jesus with humility, but most did
not return it. The ninety percent, the nine out of ten should have shown
gratitude but they did not. Gratefulness drove only one to go back and prostrate
himself in deep humility, his heartfelt thankfulness turned into worship and
praise and a transformed life.
Have an
honest desire to know Christ more fully and a good attitude based on growing in
Christ rather than seeking just what we want.

Gratitude is an attitude of
being thankful for what He has done for me! When we fully recognize that our
greatest problem has been solved, our indebtedness of sin, we can feel and know
gratitude and thus honor God, by leading a life of response to Who and what He
has done!
One of the foundational
doctrines from the Reformation is Gratitude. Because we are saved by grace, by
no effort or work by our means, we should have a response to it. This response
is our gratitude toward God, and what He did for us.

Church Growth Tip and Prayer of the Week
Ideas to consider: (Romans 12:18; 14:18-19; Ephesians 4:3; Hebrews 12:14)
A leader must be willing to make
improvements and change, even if it steps on the toes of others, but stay firm
and be uncompromising to the Word. At the same time, allow people to be in the
process with a listening ear, so they can catch the new direction and take
ownership of it. (Colossians 4:7-8; Philippians 4:8-9
Pray that negative thinking, stress,
being overwhelmed, the ways of the world, the tyranny of the urgent, being
over committed, over busyness, fatigue, compromise, pressures, overworked,
under-appreciated, misunderstandings, and stress will not get in your spiritual
home and take over (John 14:1; Acts 6:2-4; 2 Cor. 10:3-5; Eph. 4:17).

It is our VISION and call, and commitment to point the
church back onto the path of making disciples. It is our passion and directive
to lead Christians away from our false perceptions and into His
way.
